Request data deletion

Ask us to delete specific personal information we hold about you — without closing your Hulp account.

This page is for users who want to keep using Hulp but ask us to delete a specific category of data (for example, a particular chat history, an uploaded photo, or information about a specific family member).

Your rights under the DPDP Act

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) gives you the right to request erasure of personal data we hold about you, subject to certain legal exceptions. We honour these requests for our users in India and globally.

What you can request

You may ask us to delete any of the following:

  • Specific chat messages, photos, or voice notes shared with your PA.
  • Information about a particular family member or household contact.
  • A specific address, phone number, or email previously associated with your account.
  • Historical task records older than a date you specify.
  • Any other personal data you can describe with enough detail for us to locate it.

How to request

Send an email to privacy@hulp.in with the following:

  • Subject: Data deletion request
  • Registered phone number (so we can verify your identity).
  • What data you want deleted — be as specific as you can. For example: "all photos I have shared with my PA between January and March 2026", or "all information about my daughter, registered under name [name]".
  • Reason (optional) — you do not have to give one.

Email your request

We will respond within 2 business days to confirm the request, verify your identity (typically by an OTP on your registered phone), and walk you through any clarifying questions if your request is ambiguous.

What we cannot delete

In limited cases, we may be unable to honour a deletion request — usually because the data is required by law, in active dispute resolution, or essential to detect and prevent fraud. Specifically:

  • Invoice and payment records required by Indian tax and accounting law (retained for up to 8 years).
  • Records relating to an active legal claim, complaint, or regulatory investigation.
  • Anonymised logs that no longer identify you and are used only for security or abuse prevention.

If we cannot fully action your request, we will explain why in our written response, and we will limit any continued processing of the data to the legal purpose only.

If you are not satisfied

If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you may:

  • Escalate to our Grievance Officer at grievance@hulp.in with the words "Escalation — data deletion" in the subject line. Your message will be reviewed by a senior team member and resolved within 30 days.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India, established under Section 18 of the DPDP Act, 2023.
